Nicki Minaj Pushes Back ‘Queen’ Album to August 17, Says She’s Not Competing With Ariana Grande

Nicki Minaj has pushed back the release of her album to August 17.

It all started when the rapper took to her Twitter Tuesday night (July 31) to reveal she has run into a problem: that the album contains a track with an uncleared Tracy Chapman sample and a feature from one of “the greatest rappers of all time.”

“Tracy Chapman, can you please hit me,” Nicki tweeted, and in subsequent tweet, asked her fans if she should “keep date/lose record” or “keep record/push date1 wk.”

As at press time, 50% of the vote says she should keep the record and push back the release date by one week. However, Nicki decided to push back the release of the album one week, in turn clashing with Ariana Grande who already had scheduled to release her Sweetener album on August 17.

Many people were not happy with the decision to push the album back, with some saying she was trying to compete with her good friend Ariana.

But Nicki has denied this, and she had Ariana to back her up on Twitter. “jesus is this what’s going on today? imma jus stop logging in at all lmfao. that’s my fucking sister. she’s clearing a sample. buy and stream queen & sweetener aug 17 bye. these numbers don’t mean as much to the artist as they do to y’all. jus want y’all to listen to the project,” Ariana tweeted.

To which Nicki replied, saying: “I love this woman. Can’t wait for the fans to benefit from all the hard work on both ends. We love your passion. You guys will be VERY happy. Trust. That’s all I’ll say.”
