There are indications that the Amaju Pinnick-led board of the Nigeria Football Federation has concluded plans to organise fresh elections into the executive committee on September 22.
The new date is one week before the previously scheduled date of September 29 that was endorsed by the NFF congress.
According to Vanguard, this change of date was as a result of the clash with the CAF Congress, which will take place in Morocco on September 29.
It also comes three days before the Federal High Court in Jos resumes hearing of the long-running NFF leadership tussle case.
In defiance of a string warning by Minister of Sports Solomon Dalung, the NFF gathered in Benin City last week in an extraordinary congress where they mandated the electoral committee to come up with a new and more convenient date for the elective congress.
Dalung continues to show loyalty to the Chris Giwa-led board which was evicted from the Glass House a fortnight ago, and has called on both parties to wait for the decision of the court before proceeding with administrative functions.
