I’m A Celebrity prepares for high-rise challenge as show erects two planks on building in Australia

It’s one of the first terrifying task that the stars have to endure before they are abandoned in the jungle.

And preparations for I’m A Celebrity‘s high-rise challenge were well underway on Saturday as the hit ITV show erected two huge planks on top of a 32-storey building in Surfers Paradise on Queensland’s Gold Coast in Australia.

The jungle series splits the celebrities into two teams while each group takes it in turns to walk the plank 334 feet in the air until they reach the red light at the end, which they have to hold onto for a matter of seconds.

In new pictures ahead of the new series, which kicks off on Sunday 17 November, it saw the 32-storey building transformed into a building site as a collection of scaffolding was erected on the rooftop.

Two red planks were seen dangling 334 feet in the air while silver towers surrounding them with cameras attached to capture every second of the celebrities’ challenge.

It comes after I’m A Celebrity host Declan Donnelly jetted into Australia earlier this week with wife Ali Astall and 14-month-old daughter Isla, his co-presenter Ant McPartlin hasn’t been spotted yet.

Meanwhile on Friday it was reported that the line-up had been ‘leaked’ ahead of season 19.

A new crop of celebrities have been put forward as rumoured frontrunners – with BBC Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts being the final name to be added to the list.

Caitlyn Jenner and The X Factor’s Rak-Su star Myles Stephenson have reportedly joined the likes of GMB host Kate Garraway, EastEnders actress Jacqueline Jossa and former footballer Ian Wright, who have all been tipped to enter the famous jungle.

Adele Roberts, who DJs on BBC Radio 1, first found fame when she starred in Big Brother, and is now reportedly heading into the jungle.

A source told The Sun: ‘Adele’s really excited to go into the jungle. She missed her show on Thursday to fly out to Australia.

‘Bosses reckon she’s going to make fantastic television and will really get stuck into camp life.’

American reality star Caitlyn, 70, is said to be jetting to Australia later this month for the ITV series for an eye-watering £500,000 (approx USD $640,000) fee, which is allegedly the most being paid to any star this series.

A source told The Sun: ‘She’s such a huge name and a great get for producers. ITV think she is one of their best ever signings. It’s a real bolt from the blue. They’ve asked her every year for a long time, but she finally felt the time was right.’

Another controversial signing could be Rak-Su’s Myles Stephenson following his split from Love Island star Gabby Allen, both 27.
