Fans go wild over Mohamed Salah’s wonder goal against Chelsea as Liverpool retake top

Mohamed Salah stole the show as Liverpool overcame rivals Chelsea to show off their title credentials at the business end of the season.

Salah struck a contender for goal of the season as Liverpool pulled off a 2-0 victory to return to the summit of the Premier League with four games remaining.

Picking up the ball around 35 yards out from goal on the left-hand side of the area, Salah lashed a first time effort towards the Kop end and left goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga completely helpless.

The Egyptian forward hit the shot so sweetly it held a perfectly straight trajectory as it rocketed towards the top corner to double the Reds lead.

Salah immediately peeled away to celebrate in a praying stance, as his joyous team-mates mobbed him and roared to the Kop.

As soon as the ball rippled the back of the net, social media was awash with reaction – with many fans in disbelief at what they had witnessed.

‘That man lives for these moments. It’s the oxygen that sustains his magnificent existence,’ wrote one jubilant supporter on Twitter.

‘I think I’ve watched this goal at least 500 times already,’ added another.

Jurgen Klopp’s side now sit top of the Premier League table with a two point lead over rivals Manchester City.

City triumphed over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday lunchtime, and still hold a crucial game-in-hand over the Reds.

Liverpool have remaining fixtures against Cardiff City, Huddersfield, Newcastle and Wolves before the season is out.

City, meanwhile, face domestic clashes with Tottenham, Manchester United, Burnley, Leicester and Brighton.
