Altach 2-3 West Ham: Diop strikes winner as Pellegrini’s side make winning start to pre-season
Issa Diop struck the decisive goal as West Ham proved their is life after Marko Arnautovic as they made a winning start to pre-season.
Austrian forward Arnautovic controversially pushed for an exit this summer and has since departed for Shanghai SIPG in a £23million move.
But his former team-mates did not miss him out in Switzerland on Thursday night as goals from Carlos Sanchez, Michail Antonio and Diop saw them edge a five-goal thriller against SCR Altach.

Manuel Pellegrini opted for a number of recognisable faces for the contest against the Austrian side as Robert Snodgrass, Felipe Anderson and Antonio all started the game.
And it all started as planned for the Hammers as they scored the opener after just six minutes.
Snodgrass’ corner from the left was met by an onrushing Sanchez as the Colombian guided his header into the corner with the Altach goalkeeper unmoved.
West Ham controlled the tempo early on but Altach quickly found a footing with two goals
Wilshere was a calming influence in midfield as he spread the play and stretched the pitch
West Ham dominated the early proceedings and controlled the tempo before doubling their lead through Antonio.
He showed real composure to round the Altach goalkeeper having collected a smart through ball from Hammers skipper Mark Noble.

Pellegrini handed a debut to Roberto in goal but his hopes of a clean sheet were ended five minutes after Antonio’s strike when Altach reduced the deficit through Manfred Fischer.
The 23-year-old finished smartly past Roberto after finding a yard of space between the Hammers back-line.
That Fischer goal gave Altach a boost and two minutes after the restart they were level.
Pellegrini made eight changes to ensure every member of the squad got a run-out but an error from Pedro Obiang saw the game level at 2-2.
But West Ham would eventually restore an advantage as Diop got what proved to be the winner when he stooped to head in a cross from Jack Wilshere.
