Alexis Sanchez and Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood clashed in pre-season

Alexis Sanchez was apparently left fuming after clashing with youngster Mason Greenwood while on Manchester United‘s pre-season tour.

Sanchez, who suffered a hamstring injury in early July while playing for Chile in the Copa America, had an angry exchange with Greenwood following a tackle on the training pitch.

According to The Sun, the 30-year-old, who is United’s best-paid player on £500,000 per week, was furious at being tackled, particularly after having suffered hamstring injuries before.

It is also believed that Sanchez has been training away from Carrington so that he can fully focus on getting back fit.

It comes after United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed to Sanchez that he would be part of his plans for the new season.

Sanchez knows that Greenwood is also going to become a more regular feature in the United team.

The 17-year-old was a second half substitute in United’s first Premier League game of the season on Sunday.

Greenwood came on for Marcus Rashford in the 86th minute after United had stuck four past Chelsea.

Solskjaer gave an update on Sanchez’s fitness before the season started last week.

He said: ‘Alexis has come in and trained well.

‘He’s four or five weeks behind the boys and has not played apart from the one behind closed doors here, so I think he’ll see [Lukaku’s exit] as an opportunity as well to make his mark.

‘I do expect him to stay, there’s a striker there who we think is going to be able to score some goals.’
